Pree and The Real Players

Although Pree is best known as a singer, songwriter and vocal arranger, she has been involved in the entertainment industry on multiple levels. She was born in Los Angeles of Cherokee/Seminole decent. Her heritage also includes Afro-American and French bloodlines. It was this unique combination that prompted Gray Advertising to select her for a national modeling campaign during the time she was performing with her sisters, Lolita and Dawn as The Pree Sisters, resulting in three 45 releases for Capitol records.
While under contract to Capitol, Motown Records began to romance the group, but no agreement could be reached. The romance with Motown didn't work, but it did flourish with Motown producer, Clay McMurray and their marriage was inevitable. During the early years of marriage, Pree remained extremely busy. She was contracted with Casablanca Records that produced a single, Island Records for an album and lastly MCA/Universal resulting in "Karen Pree"
Not only was Pree singing and modeling, she also produced three lovely daughters, Farrah, Haven and Blair. The McMurray's moved back to Detroit and Pree put her career on hold to care for her family.
"I'm coming out..." During the time Pree was raising her family, she was on the Dean's List at Marygrove College and received a Bachelor's Degree from Sienna Heights University although music continually beckoned to her. Ian Levine, a UK entrepreneur visited the US and soon had her writing, singing and doing vocal arrangements with many legendary Motown artists. Unfortunately, Levine failed to reimburse most of the artists for their many months of hard work although many of these recordings are still being purchased internationally today.
Not one to let adversity get her down, Pree persevered and she has worked with some of the industry's top-named acts on the road and in the studio-names like Quincy Jones, Dick Clark, The Temptations, Shania Twain, The Four Tops, The Righteous Bros., Herman's Hermits, Ashford and Simpson, The Miracles, The Contours, The Velvelettes, The Undisputed Truth, Gerald Levert and Joan Osborne.
The new decade has been exciting for this multi-talented entertainer. She has performed as a lead vocalist in the Windsor Casino Tribute Show "The Sounds of Motown" and toured Europe and the U.S. with Martha Reeves. One can witness Pree's lovely face and hear her dynamic voice as featured backup vocalist in the 2003 film "Standing in the Shadows of Motown", a film about the legendary musicians, The Funk Bros.
Itt seemed the Motown family surrounded this lady and Spyder Turner required her services as vocalist and choreographer.

Pree can be seen performing nationally with her own band, Pree and The Real Players. Her musicians have been pulled from the cream of the crop of Detroit legends including Dennis Coffey, Marcus Belgrave, Vaughn Klugh and James Jamerson, Jr .
